[Saesneg isod // English below]

"Mae'n hawdd byw yn y gorffenol ac anwybyddu'r presennol...
Ofnadwy yw fy nghof ar y gorau,
felly mae rhaid i fi gadw rhestrau
O'r pethau
y bydd rhaid i fi wneud -
y pethau sydd yn "anghenhreidiol",
y pethau sydd yn ddi-anghenrheidiol,
a'r pethau sydd yn digwydd heb fod yn anghenreidiol nac yn ddi-anghenrheidiol...
fel mynd i'r gwaith... a dod nôl o'r gwaith..."

Lle'r oedd rhyddhad cynt Ffos Goch (Olion yr Hen Hualau, Recordiau Hwyrol, mis Mawrth 2023) yn enghraifft o ochr indiepop y prosiect, dyma rywbeth o'r ochr arall, lle mae rhestr to-do hollol absŵrd, lot o weiddi dibwrpas, pysgodyn aur anffodus, ac sydd yn troi'n ddifrifol yn sydyn wrth feddwl am wacter yr hen gapel ar ddiwedd y gân.

Ysgrifennwyd y gân ar gyfer perfformiad cyntaf y prosiect, a oedd yn ddienw ar y pryd. Roedd sawl dysgwr Cymraeg amhrofiadol gyda ni yn Llambed, felly'r syniad oedd sgwennu bach o ddeunydd lle byddai cyfle iddyn nhw ddeall rywfaint o'r geiriau o leia - dyna pam mae'r gân yn rhestru dyddiau'r wythnos, ac ailadrodd ymadroddion syml fel "mynd i'r gwaith / dod nôl o'r gwaith".

O ran piano jazz anghydweddol y fersiwn 12": fe ges i fy niswyddo yn ddiseremoni rhag gig jazz yn Birmingham, amser maith yn ôl, am "beidio bod yn ddigon jazz". Dyma ymateb gorddyledus.

Mae trydydd trac yr EP yn fersiwn newydd o "Gwylio'r Adar", sydd yn cynnwys Rob Haynes, drymiwr y grŵp The Membranes o Fanceinion.

Saesneg

"It's easy to live in the past and ignore the present...
My memory's terrible at the best of times,
So I have to keep lists of the things I have to do -
the things that are "necessary",
the things that are unnecessary,
and the things that happen without being necessary or unnecessary...
like going to work... and coming back from work..."

Where the previous Ffos Goch release (Olion yr Hen Hualau, Recordiau Hwyrol, March 2023) was an example of the project's indiepop side, here is something from the other side, in which there is a completely absurd to-do list, a lot of pointless ranting, an unfortunate goldfish, and which suddenly turns serious when thinking about the emptiness of the old chapel at the end of the song.

The song was written for the first performance of the project, which was nameless at the time. There were several inexperienced Welsh learners with us in Llambed, so the idea was to write some material where there would be a chance for them to understand a certain amount of the words at least - that's why the song lists the days of the week, and repeats simple phrases like "go to work / come back from work"...

With regard to the incongruous jazz piano of the 12" version: ages ago, I was sacked unceremoniously from a jazz gig in Birmingham for "not being jazz enough". Here is an overdue response.

The EP's third track is a new version of "Gwylio'r Adar", which features Rob Haynes, drummer with Manchester group The Membranes.
